December is flying by and I'm sure we're all feeling a little guilty for the food we've been indulging in this holiday season. I'm also sure I'm not the only one who listed "eat healthier!" as a New Years Resolution for the third (seventh?) year in a row.In an ideal world, we'd all have time to cook ourselves a perfectly portioned and nutritious meal every night. For many of us, that just isn't possible, and we frequently resort to takeout after a long day at work. When I moved to Hoboken seven months ago, I had a hard time finding "healthy" food options on nights that I needed to grab something on the go. Turns out I just wasn't looking hard enough.Hoboken is saturated with restaurants and delicious food, but with pizza joints and pub food on every corner, it's easy to choose convenience and comfort over nutrition. But if you know where to look, there are tons of great options for healthy takeout that won't haunt your conscience and leave you full of guilt (or cheese.)Below I've listed some great Hoboken takeout options for omnivores and herbivores alike. Please note that not all of the vegetarian options are vegan. A link is provided to each menu, so if you have any dietary restrictions, double check before you order!https://www.instagram.com/p/BNF3Lj1luzx/

1. Honeygrow Stir Fry (obviously)

What to get: You can't go wrong with the Spicy Garlic stir fry, a personal favorite of mine. You can sub the egg noodles for whole wheat noodles if you're feeling like an overachiever. If spicy isn't your thing, substitute the sesame garlic sauce for the same deliciousness sans heat.Vegetarian option: "Make your own stir fry" is a great option for anyone with dietary restrictions. For a vegetarian dish, you can try whole wheat noodles, spicy tofu, choice of 3 veggies, 2 toppings, topped with sesame garlic sauce, red coconut curry sauce, or the cherry bbq sauce. No delivery :(https://www.instagram.com/p/BNdQV0oBYNR/

2. The Taco Truck Tacos

What to get: Get three of the gluten-free Pollo Tacos; they come with pickled onions and salsa on a corn tortilla, and you can add a small side of guac. La Unica salad is also an option, and you can add on your protein of choice.Vegetarian Option: There's a 3-taco vegetarian special called the Aguacate that's topped with avocado, black beans, sesame seeds, pickled onion, tortillas fritas, and chipotle salsa.Delivery: $3 fee, $15 minimumhttps://www.instagram.com/p/BM60etoBLT-/

3. Shaka Bowl Poké Bowls

What to get: Try the house favorite, Mauna Kea, with ahi tuna, avocado, mango, scallions, jalapeño, cilantro, sesame seeds & spicy shaka over mixed greens or brown rice.Vegetarian option: Sub for tofu or create your own poké bowl with mixed greens or brown rice base, tofu, and your choice of mix-ins including: avocado, cucumber, edamame, pickled onions, scallions, mango, pineapple, mandarin oranges, jalapeños, and cabbage. Top with one of their dressings. No delivery :(https://twitter.com/mattandmeera/status/535902742607560704

4. Café Matt & Meera Salads

What to get: Go for the Quinoa, Kale, & Avocado salad. Topped with shaved parmesan. Or, there's the Vegetable and Grilled Tandoori Salmon salad that comes with arugula, veggies, and feta.Vegetarian option: The Hearty Bean Sprout salad is vegan and baby spinach based, with sprouts, black beans, onions, veggies, onions, and mint vinaigrette.Delivery: $2 fee, $25 minimum when I called, but $30 minimum according to Seamless (Unnecessarily steep, but you can always do pick-up)https://www.instagram.com/p/BMXObmXgEcB/

5. Bareburger Wraps and Salads

What to get: Try the SoCal burger for a healthier option than a generic burger. Or, create a custom Bareburger with options like the collard green wrap, quinoa patties, black bean patties, and tons of veggies. Skip the cheese for a couple extra healthy points.Vegetarian option: The Falafelraptor wrap, with falafel, feta, pico de gallo, alfalfa, cucumbers, pickled red onions and lemon tahini dressing on collard green wrap is a possible choice. Opt for the Cali Fresh Salad if you're looking for a vegan dish!Delivery: $2 fee, $15 minimumKnow of other healthy takeout options in Hoboken that aren't listed here?
